The First Texas DPS pilot passed away in Austin, Tx. in March. Max Westerman, Jr., entered the Texas DPS Training Academy in 1937 and became a state trooper. In 1949 with the creation of the DPS aircraft division, Max transferred and became the first DPS pilot flying a single engine Navion.
